ENT102: The Nigerian Entrepreneurial Environment

ENT102: The Nigerian Entrepreneurial Environment is a first semester year one, two credit level core course. It will be available for all students offering undergraduate programmes in B.Sc. Entrepreneurship at the Faculty of Management Sciences. This course introduces learners to the components of the environmental variables of the concept of entrepreneurship. It is aimed at identifying the environmental factors that affect entrepreneurial development. Also to be considered are types of environmental factors; and adaptive mechanisms to the entrepreneurial environment.

What Will You Learn?

The course ENT 102 consists of 17 units. Specifically, the course discusses the following: History of entrepreneurship in Nigeria Definition of entrepreneurship Role and functions/values of entrepreneurship Entrepreneurship tasks, risks, and hazards. Role of entrepreneurship in a national economy. Environmental variables of the concept of entrepreneurship. Identifying the environmental factors that affect entrepreneurial development. Types of environmental factors; and Adaptive mechanisms to the entrepreneurial environment.

On successful completion of the course, you should be able to:

  • Understand the history of entrepreneurship development in Nigeria,
  • the scope, characteristics and various sources of information for entrepreneurship development;
  • Know the component of the environmental variables of the concept of entrepreneurship.
  • It is aimed at identifying the environmental factors that affect entrepreneurial development.
  • Also to be considered are types of environmental factors; and adaptive mechanisms to the entrepreneurial environment.
